Charleston Campout & USS Yorktown Overnight
May 15th - 17th

Our Troop is heading to Charleston, SC for an unforgettable weekend May 15–17. We’ll camp Friday night, spend Saturday touring Fort Sumter — the site where the first shots of the Civil War were fired in 1861 — and explore the USS Yorktown, a legendary WWII aircraft carrier nicknamed “The Fighting Lady.”
Scouts will love discovering that the Yorktown is 888 feet long, carried over 90 aircraft, and earned 11 battle stars in WWII before later recovering Apollo 8 astronauts during the space program. After our day of touring, we’ll sleep overnight aboard the ship in the crew berthing compartments for a true Navy experience. To make this trip more accessible, the cost is $75, with the Troop subsidizing more than $50 per Scout from our reserves. Because overnight spaces on the Yorktown fill quickly, we already made a reservation. But if we need to try to expand it, we need to know, so please sign up ASAP to reserve your spot!
